There has been no draft since the formation of the Tea Party.
Yo, dumb ass, the VA (Veterans Administration) won't have its claims
backlog (PTSD, etc.) cleared up until 2015 according to an NPR feature
tonight on the problem.

Or here's an idea, the next time America wants to go to war…two things happen…

#1 - A War Tax, everybody pays for it. That way we don't put 2 wars on
a credit card like Bush did
#2 - Anybody who favors going to war, YOUR KIDS GO FIRST. Then we'll
see how many hawks turn into doves

It depends on your definition of the word "dodging". During the Vietnam
era, many students avoided or "dodged the draft" by obtaining a college
deferment. While many referred to such students as "draft dodgers", they
were merely using a system legally available to them to continue their
education. If a person who was draft-eligible fled the country to avoid
military service or simply refused to report, they were committing criminal
acts and deserved to be treated as criminals.

At the time, Canada didn't seem to think so. Muhammad Ali deserves much
credit for standing his ground, but obviously the vast majority of
conscientious objectors didn't have his kind of overwhelming popularity
and audacity. Criticizing the military-industrial-congressional complex
in public ruined Ali's career, though, because he was in the prime of his
life. It's amazing he was able to make the comeback that he did.

No country has declared war against the United States or attacked it
since 1945. Therefore draft dodgers are justified in refusing to
sacrifice their liberty and possibly their lives merely because the
people in power say they should.
